T H E THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1937. H E R M IS T O N FARM CO-OPERATIVE DIVISION J t MESSAGE TO E V E R Y MEMBER. ATTENTION! Feed Loan Expert Coming. Members Farm Burean Cooperative C. A. R iley, field supervisor for th e em ergency crop and feed loan division, w ill be at th e office of As sis ta n t County A gent Ja y T. P ier son on M onday, N ovem ber 15, be tw een the hours of 1 :0 0 and 5:00 p. m. Anyone in te reste d in seeing Mr. Riley may contact him during these hours an d he w ill assist in w hatever way possible. The reactions of th e members to th e new im provem ents a t th e F arm B ureau C ooperative mill seem to ra n g e from th a t of en th u sia stic ap proval dow n th ro u g h an a ttitu d e of indifference, into a sta te of ap prehension. T his is only n a tu ra l and is to be expected. And now, in sym p ath y w ith th e opinions of all, it is felt th a t some explanation is ap pro p riate. The question arises in the m inds of m any as to w hether these im provem ents w ill Increase th e cost of feed to th e members. Most em phat ically, th e re will be no advance in th e price of feed due to the expense of building. R eduction in opera tin g costs will be su fficien t to liq u i d ate th e costs of the im provem ents w ith in a reasonable tim e and even tu a lly w ill reduce th e price of feeds to th e members. As all are aw are, b u ild in g of th e sto rage w arehouse had become u r gent. R ent, storage and moving of stocks of feed had become b u rd en some. Cram ped and u n sa n ita ry conditions in both th e office and the mill unavoidably slowed down the work. The u n d erp in n in g of th e old p a rt of th e building had decayed to th e point w here It was necessary to replace it w ith som ething more sub s ta n tia l. T he old roof leaked and had become a m enace u n d er heavy snow. And finally, w orking condi tio n s in both th e office and th e m ill was such th a t the only reason th e d ep a rtm en t of labor had not de- cended upon us long ago was th a t th e ir atte n tio n had not been d ire c t ed to th e m atter. Much cred it is due to th e m an agem ent and to th e o th e r em ployes for th e display of loyalty, patience and real fo rtitu d e u n d er m ost try in g conditions. E very m em ber of th e co o p erative should, and w ill, rejoice to see them now lab o rin g under more sa n ita ry and cheerful environ m ent. A vote of confidence should be extended th e m anagem ent for the w holehearted and u n tirin g coopera tion th ro u e h o u t. w hich has c o n tri buted so larg ely to th e success of th e u n d erta k in g .
