George Larson, one of the new farmers of the north part of the Stanfield roject, was in town Wed- nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jens Skovbo and Mr and Mrs. Wm. Rodda motored to Portland Sunday. The Skovbos visited their son Herbert, who is at tending a diesel school there. Craig Percy is managing the Safe way store this week during the ab sence of Herb Hedwall, who is a delegate to the I.O.O.F. Grand Lodge in Portland. Mrs. Wm. Bloom and son Bart who have been in Fairbanks, Alaska, this past school year, are now in Seattle visiting relatives and will come to Hermiston soon. Mr. Bloom has been superintendent of schools at Fairbanks. Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Burrell enter tained members of the high school and grade school faculty at a buffet supper Thursday night of last week. Jack Shumate re turned to Hermiston Friday follow- ing a month spent in Idaho after their marriage April 19th. Mrs. Shumate is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Dunn of Wallula, and will be remembered as Alice Dunn. Mr. Shumate is manager of the Hermis ton Motor Company. Mrs. Peter Castric was compli mented at a miscellaneous shower Saturday afternoon at an informal tea at the home of Mrs. Guy Ams- berry Mrs. O. K. Mudge and Mrs. James Todd were assistant hostesses. Kathleen Ann Kelley brought the gifts into the room in a daintily de corated wagon. Mrs. J. M. Biggs stopped in Her miston a short time Wednesday while enroute from Portland to La Grande in company with Fat Doher ty, who has a contract road job at Enterprise. Simons of Walla Walla were honor guests Sunday at a birthday dinner and celebration honoring Mr. Simons on his 74th birthday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Simons here. Other guests were Lucille and Floyd Simons, Walla Walla, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Grindstead and daughter Aur ora, of Spokane, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Arbagast of Touchet, Wn., and Mr. and Mrs. John Pedro of Echo. and Mrs. J. M. Doyle of Plymouth, Wn., resulted in a family raunion for the first time in ten years.
