White and Miss Mil dred White of Portland visited four days early this week at the Geo. Genn home. Mrs. White is Mr. C.enn’s sister. Neva, who re- ently completed a course in busi- ne training at Centralia, has ac- cepted a part time secretarial posi tion in that city. Ralph will spend the winter with relatives in Bucoda. Hugh Driscoll, Kenneth Knerr, Ellis Coxen. Jack Pace and Oliver Knerr motored to Portland last Thursday where they remained un til Sunday. The Echo Methodist Sunday school came to Columbia park last Sunday for the regular Sunday school and worship services, and stayed for a picnic lunch and pro- gram. N. W. O’Donnell, lineman for the Hermiston exchange of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph company, spent two days this week In The Dalles placing cable in the new hos pital there. Mrs. Mabel Walker and daughter Beverley and her mother Mrs. Anna Connor and brother Jesse of Pilot Rock returned this week from a trip to Spokane and Tekoa, Wn. They also visited Coulee dam in Washing ton. R. C. Todd returned home this week from Bend, Ore., where he has been visiting his son and family, Mr. anad Mrs. Harry Todd, since April. Klages left Monday for Spokane where she joined her daugh ter Jessie of Missoula, Montana. Miss Klages is a graduate of Kin man Business college in Spokane and has been employed in Montana for more than a year. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Morfitt of Portland motored to Hermiston last Saturday for their daughter Bette who has been visiting her grand- mother, Mrs. Gretchen Purdy of the Columbia district for the past two weeks. Betty will be a junior at St. Helen’s hall this winter. According to word received here Waldo Rhea has regained conscious ness and is feeling much improved following his recent accident. On his way with a driver to Spokane, called by the death of his wife, the door came open, it is presumed, and Mr. Rhea fell out fracturing his shoulder and receiving other inju ries.
