E. R. Frederickson and two
daughters of Salem, Ore., visited
over the week end at the home of
his sister-in-law and family, Mr.
and Mrs. R. B. Wilcox. They also
visited Sunday with Frank Fred
erickson of Irrigon, and Lewis Fred
erickson of Heppner who met their
brother here at the Wilcox home.
The Fredericksons were enroute to
Lewiston. Idaho, on a short visit and
will again stop in Hermiston on
their return trip.

in Hermiston at different times.

two bridge dessert luncheons Thurs
day of last week and Tuesday of
this week at her home on Hermiston
avenue. Roses were used to bright
en the tables.

Sunday included Mrs. C. A. Paul and
daughters Ethel Louise and Dora,

occasion was in celebration of the
birthdays of Clark Paul and Law
rence Swarner. Clark left Monday
for Astoria where he will be part
of the Coast Guard encampment for
the next two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Payne, for
mer residents of Hermiston, and
brother to H. L. Payne and Oscar
Payne, known in Hermiston, are the
parents of twins born June 11th at
Centralia. Wn. The twins will have
different birthdays, the girl, weigh
ing 31 pounds, arrived before mid-
night. and the boy, who tipped the
scale» at four pounds, after 12:00
o’clock The Paynes will be remem
bered by many here, and Oscar
Payne now lives at Brownsville, Ore.

Hermiston Unit No. 37 conducted
a most successful Poppy sale this
year. Poppies were sold on the
streets by local youngsters and
prizes were awarded to those selling
the most poppies. First prize was
won by Molly Anne Ripley; second
prize going to Allan Hiatt of Uma
tilla.
The first regular business meet
ing of the month was held Thurs
day, June 11. Nomination of offi
cers for the ensuing year constitu-
ted the main business of the even
