Anderson, who is with him from Dawson, Minn., spent Memor ial day in La Grande with friends. Mrs. John Pace left Friday for Portland where she will visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Tiffa ny, for the next two weeks. Mrs. H. D. Richwine and son Le- vern of Freewater are visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Osborn, this week. Mrs. Chas. Grey and daughter of I Cove, Ore., spent Sunday at the i home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Ryland of Columbia district. A. W. Behrman, who operates a I jewelry store and watch repair shop %% | here, spent the week end at his home in Kennewick. FRIDAY - SATURDAY Mrs. Leo Baker and daughter Connie Jean of Pendleton spent the JUNE 5-6 week end with her parents, Mr. and DOUBLE FEATURE! Mrs. Walter Smith. Mrs. Joan Sage and son Wayne left Wednesday for The Dalles where Carole LOMBARD they will make their home for the in present. Bob Woodward is employed in the Oregon Hardware & Implement company store as assistant. He has been employed on the state highway maintenance crew stationed here for some time, and replaces Forrest and Davis who left Saturday for Rain ier, Ore. Miss Billie Markham of Irrigon was the house guest of Miss Norma Davis over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Davis and daughter Arlene left Saturday for Rainier, Ore., where they plan to visit friends and relatives. Mrs. J. C. Mayer of Lebanon, Ore., Visited Thursday evening and part ot Friday with her SOI Kenneth M. Mayer. She had been a delegate to the convention for Federated Women’s clubs at The Dalles. Idaho, spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hooker in Columbia district. Mr. Coons is Mrs. Hooker’s brother. T. A. Anderson of Dawson. Minn esota, arrived recently to spend the summer with his brother, S. A. An derson, Jr. Mr. Anderson has a farm north of town and raises tur keys quite extensively. Miss Martha Hart, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Vane Boyn ton for the past two months, left Saturday for her home in Gervais. Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morgan of Flora. Ore., attended the commence ment exercises here last Friday at which Mrs, Morgan’s brother. Jack, received his diploma. Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Cotner and Mrs. Cotner’s son. Bob Mitchell, of Portland were week end house ruests of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Swayze. Mrs. Cotner is Mrs. Swayze’s sister. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ober and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scheuning spent the week end visiting at The Dalles. Mr. Ober and Mr. Scheuning enjoyed trout fishing in near-by streams. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Payne and Mrs. L. Rose Lawson and P. F. Ward returned Sunday from Prineville where they spent Memorial day. Mr. Ward visited his daughter, Mrs. J. Holland, at Bend. • .Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hooker of Boise, Idaho, spent the week end at the home of Mr. Hooker’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hooker in Colum bia district, which was their first visit in two years. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Waller and daughter Jean of Prosser spent Sun day as guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Felthouse, while calling on old friends. They are former Hermis ton residents. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Decker and daughter Jean and son Jimmy of Ba ker, Ore., spent the week end at the home of Mrs. Decker’s mother, Mrs. A. W. Turnblad. Jean remained with her grandparents to spend the summer. The C. J. Hahn place on Gladys avenue which is now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Jackman. has been remodeled and has a new roof. The work was completed this week. Miss Maxine Paul and Clark Paul of Pendleton were in Hermiston Tuesday. Maxine moved to Pendle ton to make her home with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Paul, at the close of school when she grad uated. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nelson and family left Tuesday morning for Athena where they expect to make their home. The Nelsons first farmed the place one mile west of town in the Westland district and later sold to Geo. Harper, and moved into town where they lived until the close of school. Mrs. Rena Wa terman came with them after hav ing visited in their respective homes for some time. H. W. Collins and daughter Cath erine of Portland and Ruth Dodd of Hermiston left Sunday on a two weeks’ vacation trip through south ern California and Mexico. Ruth was a member of the Hermiston sen ior class which received diplomas at exercises Friday night. From Port land they will go direct to San Fran cisco and will visit Hollywood and Los Angeles. Prof. Sigurd H. Peterson, head of the English department at O.S.C., who delivered the commencement address here Friday night, was the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Ott Thursday night. Prof. Peterson was accompanied by Walther Ott and David Arnott who returned with him Friday night following the exercises. Mrs. W. D. Neill, who has been staying at the home of Mrs. Levi Reeder for the past two weeks, spent the week end at her home in Pine City. Mrs. Neill is greatly im proved in health and will remain in town for another week. Mrs. L. A. Amsberry and Miss Vivian Amsberry of Portland, moth er and sister of Guy Amsberry of Hermiston, spent the week end here.
