Mr. and Mrs. N. W. O’Donnell were business visitors in Milton Sun day. Mrs. Julia Morfitt of Portland spent the week end in Hermiston with her mother, Mrs. A. W. Purdy. H. M. Boylen and son of Irrigon were Hermiston business visitors here Monday. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Mitchell of Great Falls, Montana, visited their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nelson, last week. Don Jackson, who is employed by the Sunset Motor company in The Dalles, came home Saturday night to spend the week end and while here came down with the three-day meas les and was unable to return. W. Wilkes was taken to St. Anthony's hospital in Pendleton seriously ill Tuesday. She has been in poor health for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Wldman of Attalia, Wn., spent the week end in Hermiston with Mrs. Widman’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McAtee. The Misses Alma and LaVonne Fuller were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Morris is now an instructor in night school at the col lege and is active in other affairs of the college. Among Pendietton visitors from Hermiston last Saturday were Mrs. Roy Hale, and daughter Claudine, Mrs. Guy Amsberry, Mrs. E. Dun ning, Mr. and Mrs. Al Quiring and Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Sommerer. Mrs. Harold Thompson and son returned from Pendleton Sunday af ter spending several days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Thomp son. Mr. Thompson went to Pen dleton Saturday night and returned with them. D. W. Davis, candidate for nomi nation on the democratic ticket for county assessor, was in town Tues- day. Mr. Davis has acted as deputy assessor for the past tour years and is again making the rounds of towns in the county. Mrs. Hubert Richwine and son Laverne of Freewater is the house guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Osborn this week. They came last Friday with Mrs. Osborn who had visited them for two days. Cable of Hermiston were Walla Walla visi tors Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wilkes of Fossil, Ore., were called to Hermis ton early this week by the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. R. W. Wilkes, who is receiving treatment at St. Anthony’s hospital in Pendle ton. Mrs. Phoebe Palmer plans to leave Friday for Yoncolla, Ore., where she will visit her daughter and family. Mrs. Palmer recently returned from Idaho and has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Guy Amsberry. Announcement of the birth of a I new grandson was received this I week by Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Harding. Pearson and Mrs. Har old Rankin were joint hostesses Thursday and Friday ot last week at contract bridge luncheons. Covers were placed in Mrs. Pearson's home on tables centered by bouquets of daffodils. Following the play on each day a lovely blooming plant was presented to Mrs. B. Haneline and Mrs. Neill Robertson who won high honors. The Easter motif was used by Mrs. Guy Amsberry and Mrs. Roy Hale at two bridge luncheons given at Mrs. Amsberry’s home Monday and Tuesday of this week. Daffodils and spring flowers were used as center pieces for the tables. High honors were won by Mrs. H. E. Shes- ely and Mrs. F. Gulwits. Three couples celebrated their wedding anniversary jointly Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Harding west of town. They were Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Clark, parents of Mrs. Harding who celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Carson Linder and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Prindle. Covers were placed for seventeen. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. O M. Clark and family. Mr. and Mrs Troy Under. Lester Under and Laurence Draper. Miss Arlyne Clark who teaches in the John Day high school, spent the week end at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Clark. Brown, formerly of the Her miston project, stopped in Hermis ton Saturday for a short visit with friends. He was enroute to Boise, Idaho. E. P. When the Ford Laboratory Test Set is used on an automobile it enables the mechanic to diagnose and prescribe for me chanical or electrical defects, quick ly and accurately. According to Mr. McReynolds, the old trial and error method is out. The steps of the test are so ar ranged that none has to be dupli cated. When a fault is found it is corrected before going on with the next step. Plug and pumper wires are used to establish any desired circuit, and hose and special nip ples are provided for testing fuel pump, carburetor and engine com pression.
