Stewart Rankin is visiting his grandmother in Portland this week. Within the past two weeks 22 cases of pneumonia have been re ported between Nolin and Umatilla. W. A. Sawyer, assistant county agent, attended a meeting at Arling ton Saturday. Mrs. C. C. Kibby, who is employed at Hunter’s Cafe, spent the week end in Athena with her children. Mr. and Mrs. Alpha Christley of Columbia district were Pendleton vi sitors Monday. W. Lewis Pearson has been quite ill the past week at his home. Mrs. Ina Wessell and daughter Barbara and Miss Evelyn Thorsen of Stanfield motored to Walla Walla Friday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wagner are spending the holidays in Salem with his mother. Mrs. Claude Myers of Boardman received medical treatment at the Hermiston General hospital early this week. Floyd Pierce, who is employed at Biggs, Ore., spent Christmas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Pierce, He left Thursday evening. Dr. F. B. Belt returned from Port land Monday night with his family who are making their home in the Jack Biggs residence. Mrs. F. L. Kelley left Saturday for La Grande where she spent Christ mas with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kelley. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Dunning anad family spent Christmas day at the home of Mrs. Dunning’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Clark. Bill Felthouse of Yakima, Wn., arrived Tuesday to spend Christmas with his family Miss Margaret Felt house, who is a student at O.S.C. is also home for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Al Quiring left Tues day afternoon for Dallas, Ore., where they are spending the Christmas holidays with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Nye Berry of West on were guests at the home of Mrs. Berry’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Briggs, during the holidays. Don Jackson arrived In Hermiston I Sunday accompanied by Fred Reeves | who came to The Dalles by train from Pacific University at Forest Grove Mrs. Alma Hitt left Tuesday night for Portland where she is spending the Christmas holidays 'with rela- tives. Bill Pepper of Umatilla received treatment at the Hermiston General hospital early this week, for inju- ries received in an auto accident. Gilbert Costa returned Saturday afternoon from a three month's visit with his parents in Hartford. Con- necticut. Miss Ruth Davis, freshman in law st Willamette University at Salem, is spendine the Christmas holidays with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Garner. Pierce and family spent the week end visiting relatives in Pendleton. Mrs. J. A. Serell. Donald and Rosemary Serali and Miss Golda Mumma were Pendleton visitors Monday. Dodd and Mr. and Mrs. daughter Ruth spent Christmas day in Pendleton at the home of Mrs. Dodd’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. R. Al exander. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Clark and daughter Arlyne, and Don Jackson left Mondav for Enterprise where thev spent Christmas with relatives and friends. They returned the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Pearson left Sunday for Castle Rock where they spent the Christmas holidays with their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Geo McKenzie. Morehouse Mr. and Mrs. D. and grandson. Richard, of Portland arrived Christmas Eve to spend the holidays with his brother and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Morehouse. C. A. Royse. who is superintendent of schools at Condon, and his family, are visiting at the W. M. Harvey home this week. Both Mr. Royse and Mr. Harvey taught In the Milton schools at the same time. A. W. Behrman left Tuesday night for Kennewick, Wn., where he spent the Christmas holidays with rela tives. He expects to be away until after the first of the year. Mr. Behr man operates a repair shop and jew elry store in the Herald office build ing. Mrs. C. W Thompson and daugh ter returned from a trip to Portland Sunday in company with her brother Erland Ridgley. of Bend. Ore., who spent Christmas with them. Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Deeter and Joy Beth, and their house guests, Mrs. Deeter’s sister and two broth era. spent Christmas in Dayton with relatives. Mr. Deeter returned Thurs- day but Mrs. Deeter expects to re- i main until Sunday. Miss Marion Briggs, who teaches at Medford, and Miss Eleanor Briggs who teaches in the Mt. View school near Salem, and Edmund Briggs, who is attending the University of Idaho at Moscow, are spending the Christmas holidays with their par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
