MISS WILSON OF O.S.C. TO HELP GOVERNMENT AGAIN. CORVALLIS—Uncle Sam has once more requisitioned the services of Miss Maud Wilson, home economist at Oregon State college and widely- known authority on all phases of modern housing. Miss Wilson was called to Wash ington, D. C. early in December to accept a temporary appointment as housing consultant for the Federal Resettlement administration, in which she will act as advisor on pro jects in different sections of the country. Her first assignment will take her on a trip into the south- eastern states to study living condi tions in Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana. Miss Wilson has been called to the national capitpl on two' previous oc casions to assist in federal housing projects. CALF CLUB DISCUSSES t STANFIELD NEWS t By Sophronia Rhea Six members of the bridge club entertained at a delightful one o’ clock luncheon Friday at the home of Mrs. E. R. Sires. Several guests were invited and after the luncheon bridge was played. Christmas gifts were distributed. The Community Christmas tree and the operetta “When Toys Come to Life,” will be given at the high school Friday night, December 20. No gifts will be given out. Dr. E. K. McCown passed away between the hour of midnight and ene o’clock Wednesday night, after a losing fight with pneumonia. He has served the people of Stanfield as physician and surgeon for the past two years. Miss Faye Green is now working for her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Watenburger, who are both ill at their home in Echo. Mrs. Frank Sloan gave a silver tea at her home Saturday honoring Miss Jennie Albon on her 86th birth- day. Many people called and brought gifts to Miss Albon. Mrs. A. D. Kepple has been ill with the flu. PRINCIPLES OF HEREDITY. The regular meeting of the Blue Ribbon Calf club was held December 14 at the home of Mary Wilson. After a short business meeting, the leader took charge of the discus sion of principles of heredity as re lated to dairy herd improvement. Following this several of the mem bers gave very interesting reports on the origin of the various breeds of dairy cows. In place of the usual social pro- gram try-outs for the play of “Win- nin’ Pa” were held. A special meeting of the club will be held December 22, at the home of Lois Hutchison.
