Nina Rae McCulley and Jane Jackson of the We-Can Canning club, won sec ond on their demonstration entitled, “That Emergency Shelf.” The winner of third prize was a team from the Streamline Seam Stitchers of Umatilla, lead by Mrs. Wm. Kennedy. These girls were in a Dress.” Another demonstration, on can ning chicken was given by Margaret Clarke and Helen Jendrzejewski, winning of the state grand cham pionship prize, as a practice demon stration. The following pupils entered school last Monday: Zelpha Smith, first grade: Delbert Kerns, sixth grade; Eugene Kerns, seventh grade; and Maxine Thompson, fourth grade. All except the latter are from Westland district. Maxine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Thompson of Fossil. Ore., who have bought Kingsley’s store. Wanda Kiessinger entered the eighth grade last Tuesday. Next year at the Umatilla Project fair each school will have a separate booth. This will allow space for much larger and better exhibits.
