It is our show, and it is our time to celebrate and we should take pride in keeping our own enterprises of all kinds as outstanding as possible. The exhibits should be well prepared and the attendance the largest in the history of the 23 years of our fair. If there is a more meritorious project for irrigation than Butter Creek, it hasn't been found. Neigh bors can help neighbors and now is our time to help bring back these great feeding grounds of eastern Oregon. Bill Hanley could have hardly or dered his departure from the scenes of his beloved ranges In a better way. At his last round-up the ro mantic picture of his lifetime was set before him. The cow hands were there, the horses and the cat tle and the color of the hills and plains. Then the curtain fell. This great actor in the drama of the west had gone on the long, long trail. SILVER ANNIVERSARY PACIFIC "shAnnuat INTERNATIONAL LIVI EXPOSITION ; ( 4)2 -ivitiv We have had plenty of water in a year of drouth. We have good crops when many others have little. Our relief roll is scarcely, what we had before "relief” was heard of. And with it all we have the splendid wherewithals for a real Thanksgiv ing. It looks like war again. General Sherman told us once what war is. and we have seen how well he des cribed it in recent years. The World War started like the bursting of a bomb. This war had been ap proaching against, and with discus sion of all the nations. But war it looks like it must be and it will be the same kind of war. And it may reach out, who knows how tar. Let us hope that America has a higher vision than a power mad monarch dictator and that the thoughts of our best citizens will transcend all the dire desires of greedy, selfish in- terests. t IRRIGON NEWS t By Mrs. W.
