Sale last Thursday evening while enroute to their home in Mahler, Idaho, after spending the winter in California. Gladys Smith spent the week end in Pilot Rock visiting relatives. She brother-in-law accompanied her Jack Nickshins ki. Mrs. O. O. Felthouse was accom panied to Wc Ila Walla Saturday by Mrs. M. L. Watson, and the Misses Margaret Ell ott and Pauline Stoop. Mrs. Walter Garner of Echo spent the day Friday with Mrs. Maude Huff. Mr. and Mrs. Nat Waiterman of Dufur, Ore., spent the week end as guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Goun- drey. Mrs. Cleve Clark and Mrs. Alice Stone were Joint hostesses at a con tract bridge dessert luncheon last Friday at the home of Mrs. Clark. Spring flowers were used to bright en the tables. High honors were won by Mrs. Walter Pearson, second high by Mrs. E. L. Jackson and consola- tion by Mrs. Lyle Tilden. The home of Mrs. B. Haneline was the scene of a dessert bridge luncheon Tuesday afternoon. Bowls of spring flowers served as center pieces. Contract bridge was In play at the close of which Mrs. E. E. Mc Pherson was awarded prize for high honors, Mrs. Alice Stone made high average and Mrs. D. M. Deeter low average. A group of thirty-five young peo pie enjoyed a pleasant evening last Friday at the home of Mrs. Ralph Jaylor on Butter Creek. Games were the diversion of the evening which nded in a Jolly taffy pull. Th< young people present included mem bers of the young people’s Sunday | school class and Christian Endeavor 1 of the Hermiston Union church and | their guests. Mr. and Mrs. Enos D. Mrs. E. L. Jackson and Cleve Clark were high. The final of a four series card party was given Wednesday night in the Legion hall by the American Legion Auxiliary with fourteen ta bles In play. The average high score for the series in bridge went to Mrs. R. A. Brownson and Ralph Richards. In pinochle it went to Mrs. Wm. Shaar and Sam Moore. Mrs. N. R. Mueller was awarded the door prize. The ladies received trays made by veterans at the Walla Walla hospital and the men were presented with card tables. The committee in charge included Mrs. Wm. Shaar, Mrs. Sam Moore. Mrs. A. F. Cable and Mrs T. Claud Baker. The third of the series was given last Thursday night with high scores going to Mrs. Wm. Logan and Ralph Richards in bridge, and to Mrs. B. Haneline and Sam Moore in pino chle. The Committee In charge of re freshments was Mrs. B. S. Kingsley, Mrs. Wm. Bensel, Mrs. J. G. Sage, Mrs. Lyle Tilden and Mrs. Guy Ams- berry.
