Delayed by business, incident to the visit of President Roosevelt and members of his cabinet to Portland and Bonneville, Congressman Chas. H. Martin, candidate for governor, is this week making his first exten ded tour of Oregon since his return from Washington in mid-July. Congressman Martin's tour is tak ing him into sixteen counties for the purpose of meeting the voters personally and familiarize himself more thoroughly with local condi tions. Mrs. Baul is Mr. Gorham’s sister. Clyde Carrick and Willard Nick erson motored to Zelila, Wn., on business Sunday. Kenneth Ransier returned home Sunday after spending two weeks in Echo working on the Geo. Ransier ranch during harvest. The home Economics club met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Earl Cramer, enjoying a pot luck dinner at noon. Plans were made for a dinner to be served during the session of the Grange Council at Boardman August 18th. Greenfield Grange will hold its regular meet ing that night. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harwood and Mr. and Mrs. Royal Rands were din ner guests at the Sundsten home Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brown left Fri- day afternoon on a two week's trip into Idaho and Montana, They will look after property in Pocatello Idaho, and then motor on to Yellow stone National park. The threshing machine equipment owned by Oscar Lundell is stationed on the project, having finished Mr. Stout’s harvest last week, and moved onto the Frank Rutherford place. % ¥ * * * * * * * * PINE CITY NEWS By Oleta Neill Mr. and Mrs. Dan Neill and daughter, Mrs. Amy Claxton, who have been visiting with Mr. Neill’s brothers, Roy Neill and Dee Neill, left Monday morning on their re turn trip to their home in Buffalo, Missouri. Mrs. Claxton’s home is in Springfield, Missouri. The directors and clerk of the Pine City school district held a meeting Monday afternoon to deter mine who the bus drivers for the coming year would be. Burl Wat tenburger will drive the bus up Lit tle Butter Creek, and Earle Watten burger will drive up Big Butter Creek. It is not known who will drive the Lower Butter Creek bus, nor the “Hill” bus.
