Axis, “that the world Isn't all wrapped

“No Indeed! The world likes a

world, or earth, goes spinning Every
day It makes a complete spin and It
spins right around on me.
"Think of the earth spinning, and
think of me as the line going right
through the center of the top of the
earth upon which It Is spinning.“
“It's no small thought to think of
the earth spinning,” David said. It

“Then there is one other grand an

“It's the earth turning upon me that
makes one side have day while the
other has night, and though the sun
seems to set In the west It Is In truth
the earth’s moving that enuses this.”
“What’s the yearly trip 7” David
asked.
“Oh, yes, once a year the earth
moves in a long pathway around the
aun. Just ns I might move In a circle
all around something that hnd fallen
on tbe floor, though at the same time
making my own little spin. The path
way of the earth is called the orbit—
you would call It something fine like
that too I f you loved a favorite walk
or path as we lore ours.
“And my dear David, In some pnrts
bf the earth's orbit the lands thnt
are north of your old friend Equator
lean slightly toward the sun and so
have spring and summer while the rest
leaning away from the sun have au
tumn and winter.”
"You seem to lean a little, Axis.
Don’t you stand up straight, either?"
" I like to lean a b it They often

never minded. They never said to me,
" ‘Axl- keep ynur shoulders back.
You dou't want to be round-shout- i

“That seems funny.” David mur
mured.

“I suppose It does to you," agreed
Axis, "but not to me. Anyway Tva

game. I have to see to It that day I
