KGW PERFORMS FIKE SERVICE (From The Oregon Voter) It must have been expensive to the Oregonian to bring the Kansas City convention into Pacific Northwest homes through the radio. We feel sure we are voicing the sentim ents of tens of thousands of voter, when- we say we are deeply appreciative of th is service. So well organized was the broad casting that hardly a word was lost. The sligh est inflection s of voice, all the individuality of expression, the mannerisms of intonation, the very breathing of the speakers, came through as clear a sa village bell in a silent night. It seem , impossible that, in the confusion of the conven tion hall, the delegates them selves could have heard as well as did the radio listeners tw o thousand miles away. It ig a marvelous age in which we live. Few of its m arvels.can com pare with the achievem ents of radio. The editor of The V oter has covered four national conventions as a new s paper man, and at none did he hear as much of the actual proceedings as he heard in his home last week, th an k , to the splendid enterprise of KGW. It is fortunate for Oregon that It has a great newspaper which rises sospiendidly to an opportunity to serve the public by direct con nection w ith momentous, history- m aking events. We are profoundly impressed, nd are so grateful. H enceforth, count us as a radio fan. We are prejudiced against ra dio by listen in g to so many programs of a kind that had no appeal to us, so we got along very nicely w ithout one. Through the cortesy of a local dealer we accepted their loan of an Inexpensive receiving set so we could listen in on the convention. Never again w ill we be w ithout one. We live only once, and w e cannot afford to miss opportunities such as radio makes available.
