UTAH COAL — O n th e T ra ck ! : ; . ; 5 One of Lump and one of Egg “Don’t overlook the prosperity that is practically with you always and don't fail to preach it." Is the advice of a Chicago business firm to its patrons and the people gener ally. And. the very beet reasons are given for .ts faith In ever-abiding prosperity, as in the following: “We have— "Forty-eight States with limitless possibilities. One hundred and five million people with* money—much money. “They must eat. They must wear clothes and shoes. “All this takes money. Many billions. Prosperity depends on the money In circulation. Keep your head cool, your feet warm and your money In circulation. "Nothing matters but cold feet. Don’t bet against the United States. "Pessimism never wins. Times will be good.” That’s the word to the country’s workers everywhere. Is there anything In the world really worse than "cold feet?” It there anything worse in the world than being afraid of Life in business or anything else-—in fearing the re sult of going ahead with things when it is not so easy to go ahead as it was? Is there anything finer that the true gameness which carries a man or a country thru the hare times as successfully as those which are easy? The U. S. A. Is your one best bet. It is suf. to say that few cases in the hiator of the state have attracted more at tention or ^aroused more comment than this one. Mr. Albers death at just this tim< was especially unfortunate from tin public viewpoint because it kept th< merits of the case from being finallb and authoritatively decided. Mr. Albers had been freed by action Ir the solicitor general’s office, but w;u going to be tried over anyway bj the United States district attorney In Portland. Consldciuble sympathy was expres sed for Mr. Albers in his last few weeks of sorrow and suffering and perhaps this was deserved by a suf ferlng fellow being, but It must nol be forgotten that Mr. Albers wa.. against this country iu the greatest crisis of its existance, that he who had been able to become a million aire under America’s Institution, would have destroyed them wliei they were In danger. AI ho the Issui raised toward the close of the ca» was whether a man could escape tin effect of a crime by being immensely wealthy. Mr. Albers is dead and the Albert case ts dead. But the two great is sues raised are still alive and will plague us for a long time to come. What shall we do with the foretgnei who takes advantage of our conn try’s pppotunittes with becom lug a loyal American? What shall we do that great wealth may not be able to defy the law with Impunity? THE PITTOCK WILL The Herald office and Mr. Ogden’s store have been developing consider able rivalry over wbieh is the hottest place in town.
