BROWN AND GOLD LEAVES Umatilla High School By Lotys Davis Gladys Nugent returned home for the week-end from Portland where she has been under medical treat ment and entertained a few of her school friends at dinner Sunday evening to celebrate her 17th birth day. A beautiful centerpiece of daffodils gave a pleasing note to the decorations. Later in the evening Miss Gladys was the victim of a well planned surprise. The evening was spent at cards. Delicious refresh ments were served and the guests departed wishing the hostess many happy returns of the day, who left for Portland on the midnight train. Ernest Rogers of the fourth grade is reported as having the mumps. Merwin Ransier has entered the third grade and Rena Ransier the fifth grade from the Pendleton schools. Mr. Rush found It necessary to go to Portland last Friday. Mrs. Ben jamin taught in his place. The primary children are studying the Dutch children and their cos tumes and ways this week. W. 'M., to gether with the water right, of 10 miners Inches of water appurtenant thereto as specified in the contract between the Western Land and Ir rigation Co. and Frank A. Wood dated February 15. 1916, be sold by the Sheriff of. Umatilla County, Ore gon, to satisfy said judgment and Decree and all costs; I will on the 18th day of April, A. D., 1921, at the hour of 10 o’clock in the forenoon of said day at the North door of the Court House in Pendleton, Umatilla County, Oregon, sell the right, title and interest the said Frank A. Wood, had in and to the above described property on the 11th day of March, A. D., 1921, or since then has acquired, at public auction to the highest bidder for cash in hand, the proceeds to be ap plied in satisfaction of said execua- tion and all costs. MINNEHAHA NEWS NOTES Mrs. Ellen McMartin passed away Monday morning after a short ill ness. Mrs. T. L. McFalls, who under went an operation at Pendleton March 9th, is reported doing nicely. Iris Quick is out of school with the mumps. Elbert McElroy returned to school Monday after a three weeks absence caused by mumps. W. W. Green, county school super intendent, visited school March 10. Mrs. E. Z. Morse and baby of Big Bandy, Montana, arrived Sunday morning to visit for several weeks with her mother, Mrs. W. J. Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Canfield have been staying the past week with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Starr. Mr. McPherson of Pendleton spent Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. M. Jackson. Mrs. C. P.
