IS IT GOING TO DIE The Commercial club members have been trying to establish a camp ground site for Hermiston, where campers and tourists can be comfor table over night in our thriving lit tle city. At last Tuesday’s meeting. Pres ident Dodd asked what the club de sired to do with the camp site. No one had a word to say and the mat ter was passed up. Are we going to let the camp site die after all the argument we have had over it? Or, are we really go ing, to do something to attract tour ists to stay over night In Hermiston ? If we let it pass this year, we are passing up a very good thing for the city. Tourists are good people to attract. If they do nothing else but say that it is a good town, its worth the effort for this advertising. Some great writer said, "Nothing is difficult, it is only we who are indolent.” How about it? her and the children off to uncertain and decidedly less comfortable loca- tions. It isn’t much of a problem to “dad” with a hand like a ham and a gruff, ferocious voice, but "ma” knows she can’t do a thing with the boys unless there are plenty of long, slender, tough switches close by. Before the season is too late set out a few permanent plantings. The quick-growing varieties are best for the first planting, but for ornament al purposes and enduring results, plant some slow growing trees. But the main thing is to act promptly. Its time to get the rake and hoe out and polish ’em up for good use. We ought to work them over time this year. Plenty of work in Hermiston. No body idle. Everybody’s working, in cluding father. Notice of Sheriff’s Sale Under Ex ecution TREE PLANTING The tree-planting campaign is get ting results. Next Sunday night when the end of tree-planting week arrives, it is estimated that between five and six thousand trees will have been planted on the project outside of Hermiston. It is rumored that a new resident of the city let his en thusiasm get the best of him and planted a tree. This could not be verified at the time of going to press hut it is the calm judgment of the tree-planting committee that the fel low who prefers to live in the coun try rather than in town has some justification for his preference. Although Sunday ends the tree planting week, it should be remem bered that the tree-planting cam paign has not ended. The tree-plant ing committee of the Hermiston Com mercial club has until fall to see more trees planted in its territory than is planted in the Boardman club district. Should the Hermiston com mittee lose it will be under the ob ligation of feeding) the Boardman committee. If the people of this district knew personally the Board man committee there would be an Increased cooperation with our com mittee. We will not name them at this time but it is said that there isn’t enough food in the city of Her miston to "fill ’em up." This matter of tree-planting has been left too much to the men. A man Isn’t in the kitchen except at meal times and he doesn’t realize how it would help to have a few trees set out around the back door. If he don’t get enough money for his hay to pay expenses he won’t see how a few pesky trees along the road and about the house will help sell the old homestead. His wife—this is a safe bet—not only knows this but she also knows he won’t leave the pleasant, attractive home and drag Notice is hereby given that by virtue of an execution and order of sale issued out of the Circuit Court, State of Oregon, for Umatilla County, and to me directed and delivered, up on the judgment and decree rendered and entered in said Court of the 11th day of March, 1921, in favor of F.
