Another one of Hariniston's pioneers

Death cam* last Friday night after a
month’s acute illness, during which
time he suffered greatly.
Masonic
friends and neighbors who sal up with
him during that time greatly relieved
the strain on Mra. Davis, who was
constantly ministering to hie wants.
Deceased, who was an old vassenger
conductor oo the Great Northern rail­
way, before coming here had one of
his kidneys removed. The operation
evidently was not successful, for since
then he has had minor spells of sick­
ness, each one becoming more acute,
until death relieved him of bis suffer­
ings. After settling here Mr. and
Mrs. Davis began improving tbe land
south of town purchased by them, and
by unceasing toil built up as fine a
commercial orchard a? is to be seen on
tbe project. Mr. Davis was a member
of the Masonic lodge of Glasgow,
Mont., and also a Knights Templar.
Immediately after his death the local
Masonic order took charge of arrange­
ments for the shipping of the remains
to the old home io Port Huron, Mich.,
escorting the body to Umatilla and
consoling the grief stricken wife, who
accompanied all that was mortal of
her husband to his last resting place.

day from the I. O. O. F. lodge at
Elizabeth, N. J., of the death of Joseph
G. Bedale, who at one time operated
a ranch here with bis brother.
We are clad of the opportunity to
announce that Miss Kate Barion, our
last year's English teacher, and Mr.
H. M. Gunn, superintendent, are back
with us again. We are equally pleas-
ed with Mr. Beckman, teacher of
mathematics and science, who has al­
ready proven his ability as a teacher.
He is very timid toward the fair
sex but mixes well with tbe boys
The members and friends of the
Methodist church will bold a get-to­
gether meeting at the Parsonage on
next Thursday night the 27th. All
are urged to be present and an enjoy­
able time is assured.

Herb. Strohm returned from Salem

Last Sunday Miss Anna Christensen
was quite severely injured by receiv-
