More than th a t, th e lady who pieced th is re m ark ab le q u ilt was m ore th an 65 years of age. The en tire cen ter sec tion of the dom estic a r t section at the fair is reserved for the w ork of women 65 years and over. A m ost exquisite display of a r t needlew ork is seen th is year in this departm ent. W hile the quan tity of exhibits is probably not as large as usual, the quality is unexcelled. A m other and daughter com peted for prizes in a com radely fashion w ith th e re su lt m other c a rrld off several first prizes and daughter the seconds. TV o prizes have been donated to the d ep artm n t this year,—one by a G resham m erchant, W. R. H icks, who is donating a $6 bedspread, and th e o th er a $12 prize by the K athleen Connolly Irish linen shop in P ortland. T hese donations w ere much ap p reciated by those in charge.
