Lola Splawn is the captain of the Blues and Jam es W atkins the captain of the Reds. Mrs. Signe Rathman spent S atu r day night at the home of Mrs. M. B. Splawn. A. J. Bram has gone to Hood River to clear his five-acre ranch. Mr. and Mrs. W alter G riesinger of Portland spent Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyers. The calf club will put on a pro gram at the schoolhouse Friday evening, the proceeds of which will be used to help defray expenses of taking cattle to the state fair at Salem this fall. Mrs. Carl Goger and Mrs. S. B. Splawn visited Friday at the home of Mrs. G rant Groat who lives on the Section Line road west of Gresham. Jack Brophy and family have moved to Portland where he is em ployed as a boiler m aker. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Knox and family have moved from the Ridge Lum ber company into the house vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Brophy . Mr. Knox is employed at the Bear Creek dam construction works. Lawrence Craswell, Ralph Griffin and George Smith are among the men of this locality who have been engaged in fighting fire on Sugar loaf mountain. It is thought this fire is under control. Mrs. Fred W agner has gone to Seattle to visit her daughter, Miss McGraw, until after Decoration Day, George Moffitt of Portland spent Sunday with R. H. Browne. A. W. Irick was happily surprised Saturday evening when 34 friends arrived to help celebrate his 74th birthday. A wienie roast was en joyed and a beautiful birthday cake, ornam ented with 74 candles, was divided among the guests. Edna Splawn is spending the week in Portland with her sister Ruth who is working at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L .W. Paget.
