T hose receiv lng them w ere Bobbie B eehler, May H em m ers, Billie Holm es, Jan ie K napp, Melba M agnuson, H arold Olson, Signe Olson, Clyde R esare and R obert Sloop. The diplom as were presented by V ictor Johnson ch airm an of the board of*directors T he address was delivered by C harles N. W alker, presid en t of the N orthw estern School of Com m erce of P o rtlan d , who spoke on th e sub Ject, "C onquering”. T he address w as considered very forceful and ap p ro p ria te for the occasion. Ja n ie K napp spoke briefly and llttlngjy for th e class, concluding her rem a rk s w ith the presen tatio n of a b eautiful p ic tu re to F. D. Ole- m an, th e principal, as a trib u te of ap p reciation of his services as a te ac h er and principal. Mr. O lem an responded briefly, concluding his rem ark s w ith th e p resen tatio n of a beautiful vase to Melba M agnuson who has the enviable and unusual record of perfect atten d a n ce for tw o com plete y ears not having been absent or tard y once d uring this tim e. T he m usic for th e program was fu rn ish ed by th e P le a sa n t Home o rch e stra, N ellie and P attie G reen wood, Mary Louise Dodge. Leslie W alrad, and Mrs. L eslie W alrad. T he invocation and th e benediction N ere delivered by the Rev. Oliver Gill and th e Rev. A. Johnson, r e spectively. The auditorium w as tastefu lly decorated w ith the class colors of pink and white. L arge q u an titie s of snow ball and pink haw thorne blossom s w ere a rtistic a lly arran g e d with a background of m oss from the woods. An arch of pink and w hite crepe paper strea m e rs was co n stru c te d over th e fro n t of the stag e w ith th e nam e of th e school and th e class m otto, "R ow ing, not D riftin g ” done in th e sam e colors and m aterial. Pleasant Home Locals The ju n io r choir will m eet at th e M ethodist parsonage S atu rd ay at 3 o ’clock. An in te restin g day is planned by the M ethodists for next Sunday. T he services will be held a t the usual hours, th e Sunday school a t 10 o’clock and the ch u rch service a t 11:15. The E pw orth L eague de votional m eeting will be at 7 and the evening church service at 8. T he ju n io rs w ill furnish the special m usic for th e m orning service. The Rev. Oliver Gill will ta k e for his su b ject for th is service “Quo V adis?” A brief m eeting of the W orkers conference will follow. T he service being planned for th e evening hour is out of the ord in ary in th a t it is to be conducted in honor of the grade school g ra d u a tion classes of th e O rient, C ottrell, V ictory, and Lusted schools, w hich classe s are to attend th e service in a body and sit in a section reserved for them and the te ach ers of these schools. Of course the p are n ts and o th e r stu d en ts a re expected to come. T he p asto r's subject for this service is to be: "A Q uestion to A sk—a Q uestion to A nsw er.” It is planned to have some special m u sical num bers. All people not a t tending services elsew here are co rd ially invited to atten d th is se r vice. Mrs. N ellie P rice has retu rn ed to her home at O rient from Ocean P ark . Calif., w here she has lived for a year. She expects to rem ain h ere for th e sum m er. The usual o rd er of service will be followed next Sunday at the B aptist church. The p astor, the Rev. Gordon Johnson, w ill preach both m orning and evening, at 11 and 8 o'clock. T he B. Y. P. U. will m eet at 7:30 and the Bible school a t 10 o'clock. The contest in the Bible school, w hich has been ru n ning th e past th ree m onths, was ended last Sunday when the “ Blues" reached 212 degrees—the boiling point—w hile th e “R eds” A#ere ju st beginning to “ste am ” at 200 degrees. The Rev. S. F. P itts brought w ords of com fort to the g rief-strick en fam ily, th e m em bers of w hich th o u g h t th a t Mr. C arrell w as recovering u n til sh o rtly before his death. A b eautiful a rra y of floral of ferings conveyed to th e relativ es the deep reg ard in w hich Mr. C ar rell w as held in his com m unity. Miss M artha H agberg, accom panied a t th e piano by her siste r Mrs. F red H oss, sang. "B eau tifu l Isle of Som ew here ". "The Old Rugged C ross” and "T h e re’ll Be No D ark V alley”.
