T he council a t th is m eeting voted tw o sch o larsh ip s to the sum m er school for the 1929 season, one to th e o u tstan d in g boy and one to the o u tstan d in g g irl in th e 4-H club w ork. T he prizes w ill be aw arded a t th e county fair. W. C. A lderson, county su p e rin te n d en t of schools, presented th e five do llar aw a rd s for the best essays and posters on prohibition from th e different g rades in the ru ra l schools. T he aw ards w ent to H atsuko H atori of G resham , eighth grad e essay; H elen Bonner of P ark ro se , sixth grade essay; L ucile N asshahti of O rient, fo u rth grad e essay ; G ail Ridenour of W est P o rtlan d , th e best poster. Mr. A lderson had a w onderful exhibit of p osters and essays from the va rious schools. An effort will be m ade to have th ese show n kt th e county fair. Mrs. Sayles presided at th e m orning session and Mrs. E lm er H. Cook, past president, In th e a f te r noon. A bountiful lunch provided by th e R ussellville w omen w as enjoyed at th e noon hour. At th e invitation of th e T ro u t dale circle, the county council will m eet at th a t place in Septem ber.
