Gibbs, F ra n k and Clifford Gibbs drove to N ewberg T hursday to atteud the fu n eral. Mrs. Roy- Gibbs, who had been at th e home for several days, re tu rn e d to G resh am w ith them. C harley M ew hirter died at New berg, Oregon, Monday, A pril 30, from tuberculosis from w hich he had suffered for th e past year. The young m an, who w as 32 y ears of age, resided in G resham for th ree y ea rs, leaving h ere about seven y e a rs ago. As a m em ber of th e United S tates m arin es for live y ea rs, Mr. Mew h irte r saw service d uring th e en tir e late W orld w ar, tw o m onths of th is tim e being sp e n t in F rance.
