W. BORING. ___ Once m ore as th e y ear is d raw ing to a close we are looking back on our success or our failure, w hichever it m ay have been. As individuals we can alw ays see w here we m ight have improved, and not have let so m any oppor tu n ities slip by w ithout grasp in g them . But we m u st rem em ber th a t “th e re is no re su rre c tio n from th e grave in w hich opportunity is buried." We should alw ays be on th e lookout for these opportuni-. ties w hether they be financial, so cial or m oral and be ready to im prove them and do all th e good th a t we can. Looking back over the p ast year in th is locality we can see some im provem ents probably not as m any as in some form er years, b u t they a re w h at we may te rm la stin g ones. B oring for the la st year has been th e ce n te r of road w ork for th is section of C lackam as county. The first activity in th is line of w ork w as th e h au lin g of 8,000 y ard s of gravel onto th e Mt. Hood Loop road. T his grav el w as shipped in here over the P. E. P. line, then dumped into b u n k ers and th en the c o n tra c to r’s tru c k s picked it up and distributed it over th e loop. R. E. Johnson had the c o n tra c t for doing th is w ork. T hen C lackam as county has graded and graveled the four m iles of th e B oring-O regon City road, w hich connects tip w ith th e pavem ent at D am ascus. Next year th is w ill be paved, w hich will give a paved road from th e Mt. Hood Loop tw o m iles east of B or ing, w hich w ill connect up w ith the Pacific highw ay n ear C lackam as statio n and connect w ith th e F o ster road a t D am ascus, th ereb y giving a paved road to P o rtlan d by th is route, also sh o rten in g th e dis ta n ce betw een Boring and P o rt land. It has been stated th a t the paving p la n t to ta k e care of th is w ork w ill be located here, as it is the best place to get th e m aterial shipped in.
