On T h u rsd ay evening of th is w eek a Bible stu d y on th e subject of "F a ith " w ill be conducted a t the M ission chu rch and th e re w ill be m usic by a boys' chorus. • An auto accid en t occurred S u n day evening w hich fo rtu n ately did not in ju re anyone b u t resu lted in badly dam aging th e c a r driven by Melvin P eterson. P eterso n w as driving south on th e G illis road and tw o m achines w ere proceeding n o rth on th e sam e road. T he ca r a t th e re a r tried to pass th e one in fro n t, not seeing Mr. P eterson. To avoid a terrific head-on collision Melvin headed to w ard a telephone pole and crash ed in to it. W hile he w as not inju red , it w ill ta k e con sid erab le re p a irin g to put his m a chine into com m ission again. JU LY Additional Locals HILLSVIEW MAN DIES AFTER OPERATION A lbert Ash, aged 50, a w ell- know n ran c h er of the H illsview lo cality, died F riday aftern o o n at St. V incents hospital follow ing an operation for th e rem oval of his tonsils. H e had been in ailing h ealth for some tim e, how ever, pre ceding th e operation. F u n eral se r vices w ere held at th e B ap tist ch u rch Monday aftern o o n under th e d irection of th e G ates F u n eral home, w ith in term en t in Rose City cem etery. T he Rev. E. G. Judd preached th e fu n eral serm on and Mrs. E. E. M orehead of P o rtlan d sang, accom panied a t th e piano by Mrs. J. E. Gates. The deceased w as born in New Zealand. H e w as m arried in 1899 to Miss Emily T ibbins in New Z ea land and sh o rtly afte rw a rd they cam e to th e United S tates. They have resided in th e H illsview neighborhood betw een tw o and th re e years. Besides his widow he is survived by his m o th er and tw o siste rs in New Z ealand and a sister in C alifornia.
