T his fever Is epidemic w ith

Oregon, a t th is season of year and
th e only cure is to "h it the tra il.”
T he E agle C reek tra il is one of
the m ost accessible and enticing

in this vicinity. About an h o u r's
drive from G resham , over the Col

dozens of ro arin g w aterfalls, along
an excellent tra il th a t leads on and
on tow nrd higher m ountains, with
a new su rp rise breaking nt every

grip on life, a new ap preciation of
the beauties of n atu re , inspiring a
feeling of ,nwe and reverence th a t
nothing else can equal and th a t
oannot soon, if ever, be forgotten.
One w ants to sin g —
“ I love thy rocks and rills,
T hy woods and tem pled hills,
My h eart w ith ru p tu re th rills
Like th a t above."
Even th e w eariness and chafed
feet felt by the novice a re soon
forgotten but the thoughts inspired
by the g ran d eu r of the scenery
long rem ain as a benediction.
BEE LICENSE IS A

Boring, Ore., Ju n e 21. 1927 E di
tor Outlook
After reading the le t
ter by H W. S nashall. will you per
rail me a few lines in defense of
the bee license, as undoubtedly
th e re seem s to be a m isu n d ersta n d
ing as to logical facts.
Let Mr. S nashall s ta rt out some
day, m ake a short to u r of our w on
derful country, ask some of his
neighbors if they have bees, and
they will answ er "We used to have
bees but foul brood has taken
them ." And this is th e reason a
license Is required, not for the bees
but for the man th a t cares for the
bees. As foul brood is m enacing
th e honey indu stry of the country,
people who have one or tw o
sw arm s of bees th a t a re attacked
by foul brood, and they do not u n
d erstand w hat it is and w hat to do
for It The bees fly about the flow
ers, ca rry in g th is disease, then
bees from other apiaries c a rry it
back to th e ir sw arm and w hat h ap
pens? T his foul brood Is spread on
and on, and if nothing Is done will
soon eradicate all the bees.
W hereas, if a license is needed
the governm ent has the beekeep
er's nam e and address and his hives
will be Inspected, and he will be
told w hat to do It he has the foul
brood In his sw arm s. And ev e n tu
ally th is m enace will be eradicated.
Ho th is license Is only a protection
for the bee not a g reat Injustice.)
