Is th e guest of Mr. and Mrs. Dell S m ith a t the C. N. T aber residence. Mrs- W. F, Honey and her daugh te r Miss F lorence Honey attended th e opening of the pageant "Ro- s a ria ” in P ortland Monday evening a t th e civic stadium . They cannot speak too highly of th is beautiful spectacle. Enos V olbrecht, Hal Jon es and Miss Elizabeth H orning of G resham are connected with the pageant, also Mrs. Raymond Rog ers of P ortland, a form er Gresham resident. A large num ber of local people have enjoyed the pageant th is week. Six g irls enjoyed a m erry party a t the hom e of Mrs. W. F. Honey Monday afternoon in honor of the jin th birthday of M argaret Nicke.- son. The o thers p resent w ere Jean N ickerson, M argaret Brooks, June Forbes, H elen Hciney and V irginia M iller. Games and refreshm ents w ere enjoyed on th e lawn. Mr. and Mrs H enry V. S char- brough have secured housekeeping room s at the home of Mrs. Ed. Sm ith on Maiu street. No one who has seen it so far has been able to nam e the tran g e r, although it is p lainly a m em ber of th e lily fam ily. T he bulb from w hich th e p lan t sta rted was a gift to Mrs. K enney about six years ago and the p la n t has now attain ed a height of about tw o and half feet T he blossom m u st have developed suddenly some tim e d u r ing Monday. It is a m ost w on derful shade of m aroon, 24 inches in length and eight inches acro ss and of a velvety te x tu re w hich m ust be seen to be ap p reciated . It produces a sheen w hen stru c k by th e ray s of the gun th a t is sim ply indescribable. W hile beautiful In ap pearance, the odor is very ob jectionable. T his is th e first tim e the plant has ever blossom ed. Mrs. Kenney is anxious th a t h er friends may have an o p p o rtu n ity of seeing the ra re blossom w hile it lasts. a Mrs. P. E.
