GRESHAM OUTLOOK, FRIDAY, APRIL ■ Troutdale Men Have Enjoyable Party T h irty -eig h t men of T rou td ale and th e surro u n d in g co u n try spent an enjoyable social evening at the M asonic hall dining room la st T uesday evening at th e invitation of th e Rev. E. R. D. H ollensted, p asto r of th e com m unity church. T he L adies Aid society served an enjoyable dinner. A collection ta k en a t th e tab le m ore th a n paid the expense of th e banquet. A fter the men had sung a num ber of old sta n d a rd and p opular songs, Rev. Mr. H ollensted, introduced C hap lain John W. Beard of P o rtlan d , who gave a splendid address on the ideals of th e ea rlie r pioneers, and the task of m en of th e p rese n t day in th e in te re st of and for the bene fit of th e g re a t m ultitu d e settlin g in in creasin g num bers on th is P a cific coast, w ith special referen ce to th e m ission of th e little church in th e com m unity. G. P. L um sden, a form er re s i dent of T rou td ale, also spoke of th e faith fu ln e ss and stru g g le of th e little band who had in y ears past stood by th e church w ith special referen ce to th e faith fu l labors of th e L adies Aid society. Rev. Mr. H ollensted appealed to the men p rese n t to consider th is ch u rc h as a com m unity afTair of in te re st and im portance to all. He sta te d th a t re p a irs should be m ade to th e building or a m ovem ent sta rte d tow ard building a new chapel. He asked th a t a building com m ittee be nom inated to con sid er th e proposition, and th e fol low ing com m ittee w as nom inated. Jo h n B urns, A. D. K endall, T. F. P arso n s, Chas. Scott, E. D. H ew itt, W. C. S pence and O. W. M artin. A m eeting of th is com m ittee w ill be held in th e n ear fu tu re to decide th is m a tte r. W aldem ar H ollensted, son of the p asto r and a m em ber of th e KGW staff of P o rtlan d , sang tw o b a ri tone solos and presided a t the piano d u rin g th e singing. Rev. H ollensted w as much pleased over th e success and value of th is kind of gath erin g of men only, and sta te d th a t he p la n s a sim ilar g ath erin g la ter on during th e y ear, w hen it is expected th a t even a la rg e r num ber of men will respond. At the reg u la r m eeting of R ock wood g ran g e on S atu rd ay evening a class of eig h t w ill receive the th ird and fo u rth degrees. P reced ing th e in itiatio n a ban q u et w ill be served, honor guests being those m em bers who aided in th e con stru ctio n of the new stag e and the m em bers tak in g p a rt in the last play.
