O ther proposals for raising u pw ards of a m illion d o llars revenue to m eet the th reaten ed deficit have not gained support. It is th o u g h t th e business will be finished up in a h u rry and the leg islatu re will adjourn today. It Is notew orthy th a t the legisla tu re has overridden the decision of th e people expressed at th e last general election on several im port a n t m easures, nam ely, income tax, fish legislation and tith in g m eas ure (assum ing the la st named pro posal by the governor will pass). It a p p e ars the ju stice for M ult nomah d istric t will have to be s a t isfied w ith his p rese n t salary of $900 a y e a r; also th a t the M ultno mah county fair will be able to ca rry on w ith its building pro gram for two m ore y ears a t least, ail am endm ent now m aking it op tional w ith the county com m ission ers, how ever, and not m andatory L ent begins th is year on W ed nesday (Ash W ednesday), March 2 and E a ste r occurs on April 17. T his should be a good year for th e Pacific coast if early Irrig a tion will help the crops. T he only body of w ater that h asn ’t overflowed yet is the ocean.
