along th e highw ay to see th e snow
disappearing a fte r th e cold spell.
No serious dam age h as been re ­
ported on account of th e storm . An
annoying incident occu rred on
Monday m orning when P. A ndersen
w as called out of bed by th e in ­
sisten t horn of an auto in fro n t of
his place, and w as inform ed by the
driv er th a t a bad slide had closed
th e road at O neonta Gorge. He
w as asked to rep o rt th e m a tte r at
once to the men in ch arg e of keep­
ing the road cleared. George W il­
son and A. W oodward left for the
scene of the tro u b le w ithout even
stopping for b reak fast, and on a r ­
rival a t th e scene of the tro u b le
found a few ■wheelbarrow loads of
e a rth w hich w ere quickly cleared
aw ay. T he m orning paper re p o rt­
ed th e road closed, m uch to th e d is­
appointm ent of several trav e lers,
who w ere forced to delay th e ir
plans.
T he schools w ere closed for
m ore th an a week on account of the
roads being drifted high. C rew s of
men w orked to clear th e snow,
w hich w as nine feet high in some
places.
