Boswell en joyed a trip up the Columbia River highw ay Sunday afternoon and they rep o rt th a t beginning directly th e o th e r side of S pringdale and con tinuing to Sum m it, a distance of p erh ap s five m iles, th e re was stro n g evidence of an old fashioned silver thaw . T elephone and elec tric light poles and w ires w ere down and ice covered boughs and w ires in some places th ree inches in thickness. T hey did not proceed to Crown Point and around th e fig u re eight for fear of getting caught on the icy highw ay w ithout proper ’ p recautions for tires. Mr. Boswell reported th a t for sev eral m iles scarcely a pole w as stan d in g belonging to the Columbia T elephone com pany. The w ires form ed a tangled m ass w hich the linem en a re endeavoring to re sto re to order. Several poles belonging to th e P o rtlan d E lectric Pow er com pany w ere down and w ires w ere lying on the ground every w here. Man Robbed N ear 12-Mlle C orner. A P o rtlan d m an, Joe Greco, r e ported to th e sheriff's office S a tu r day th a t he w as held up th e p rev i ous evening on th e F airview road n ea r th e T w elve-m ile co rn er and robbed of $94, w hile changing a tire on his autom obile. G reco said th re e m en alighted from an a u to m obile and asked him if he need ed any assista n ce and then p ro ceeded to rob him. The m an said th e ir ca r had no re a r license plate and one of the robbers stood in fro n t of th e fro n t num ber so th a t he could n o t see it.
