Many useful a rtic le s w ill be offered to the public at th e sale, suitable for C h ristm as gifts. T h ere w ill be a plate lunch. Mrs. Jam es Gregson of Longview spent last week visiting her sister, Mrs. C. L. G regson. Mrs. E m m a G regson and Mrs. Roy C ochran entertain ed at dinner on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Jam es G regson and tw o sm all sons, from Longview. Mr. and Mrs. F ra n k Sei- fer and sons from P lea san t Home, C. L. G regson. wife and sons, and Dick and Joe H ansell. Mrs. O. M. Rich has been quite ill th e past week. Mrs. H. O. M iller has been su f fering the p ast week w ith infection in h er face. Homer F ish er is w orking two days in th e w eek at the P. E. P. com pany's su b statio n here. The rem ainder of the tim e he is with the com pany a t L ents. Mr. F isher is a form er resid en t of Boring. V. A. M endenhall has the agency for the A tw ater K ent and Fada radios and has "them on display at T u rn e r's confectionery. He re ports a num ber of sales. A crew of men have taken down the fram e w ork of the P. E. P. com pany's old substation. The m a chin ery w as all taken aw ay early in th e fall. , , Eldore Jo h n sto n attended the ' O. A. C. and south ern California football gam e in P ortland on Arm istice day. The “T hree L inks” club gave a ' card p arty and dance at I. O. O. F. J hall S atu rd ay evening. The young peoples’ Bible class at the church on Sunday evening is grow ing in in te rest. T he Rev. E. W. W ithnell is in charge. The ch ild ren ’s Happy H our class which m eets Sunday a fte r noon is being well attended and the children a re much interested in the w ork they are doing. The services in the B aptist church each Sunday are Sunday school which m eets at 10 o'clock. P reaching a t 11 by tha pastor, the Rev. Wm. F airw eath er. In th e eve ning th e B. Y. P.-U. convenes at 7:30 and is followed by preaching I at 8 o'clock by the pastor. D. D. Jack is quite ill at his home at Scenic. His many friends are hoping for a speedy recovery. Mrs. Wm. F airw eath er has been visiting in Salem and D allas the past two weeks. She is expected home on Friday. M arion Miller of Coos county, who has been visitiug his m other, Mrs. P. M. Miller, retu rn ed to his home on Sunday. R. 1. A nderson is m aking rapid progress on his new house near the O rient school.
