In all of O re g o n ’s 96,000 s q u a re m iles th e re is an e stim a te d p o p u la tio n of o n ly 825,000 people— less th a n 9 to th e s q u a re m ile. W e h a v e 55,157 farm s— an a v e ra g e of one to ev ery 15 people. W e h av e only 2500 in d u strie s th a t em ploy five m en o r m o re— an a v e ra g e of one in d u stry to every 330 people. O ut of O re g o n ’s 825,000 people, 782,256 d id n ’t h av e n e t incom es big eno u g h to file incom e tax. r e tu rn s .
