Oregon, near Baker, sp en t Monday

his w ife’s m other, Mrs. C. A. Ca­
rothers. He bro u g h t a carload of
ca ttle to P ortland on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Bentley have
moved from /h e Ross house on
T hird stre e t to the Jam es Babcock
house east of Mrs. C. M errill’s
which they will occupy te m p o ra r­
ily.
T his house was form erly
owned by th e late Mrs. Maggie
Ulm. Mr. Bentley has purchased
a lti-acre fru it ranch near G rant's
Paas and Is planning to move th ere
as soon as he can dispose of his
tire shop in Gresham .

dent of the W om en's A uxiliary to
th e A m erican Legion and national

tion, was one of a p arty w hich left

tend th e national A m erican Legion
convention in P h ilad elp h ia October
11 to 15. The delegation will be
joined in M ontana by delegates
from th e so u th ern p art of the state.
On October 9 the p arty will have
an audience with P resid en t and
Mrs. Coolidge and the departm ent
com m ander accom panying the p a r­
ty east will p resen t the president
w ith a box of fru it. Mrs. Coolidge
will also be presented with a bou­
quet of Oregon roses.

Mr. and Mrs. A ndrew McManus
retu rn ed Tuesday from a two
w eeks’ stay at Seaside w here they
have a cottage. The w eath er was
b eautiful while they w ere th e re and
they had a m ost enjoyable rest.
D. E. Towle retu rn ed Monday
evening from a two w eeks’ trip to
Uie m iddle w est, including m any
points in M innesota and N orth D a­
kota. He visited his b ro th er, Geo.
Towle, and fam ily In M inneapolis.

Towle says he is glad to get back
to the best co u n try in th e world.

dislocated w rist.
