lighting equipm ent o t th e building

fireproof. Mrs. Sm ith is m ost en th u ­
siastic over th e p rospect for th is
y ea r's exhibit a t th e sta te fair and also
for th a t of th e com ing M ultnom ah
county fair to be held a t G resham .

AT PLEASANT VALLEY
A ndrew R. Bankus, a resid en t of
Oregon for th e past 36 y ea rs, died a t
his home in P lea san t Valley Sunday,
Ju n e 14, a fte r an illn ess extending
over th e p ast year, although he had
been bedfast p ractically hut a day be­
fore he passed aw ay. He w as born In
D enm ark Ju ly 21. 1842, and cam e to
Am erica at th e close of th e Civil W ar.
He first lived In M innesota, moving
later to Iowa, and cam e to Oregon in
1889, living a t P le a sa n t Home until
1920 w hen he moved to th e P lea san t
Valley locality w here he has since re ­
