responded and a cu rio u s crow d gath
ered. T he Are w as conAned en tirely
to th e chim ney an d no dam age was
done. Mr. and Mrs. L eslie had gone
out for th e evening. Before going Mr.
L eslie attem p ted to build a Are, but
could get no d ra ft, becau se th e m ov­
ing of th e house th a t day had Ailed
th e chim ney w ith soot. H e decided to
w ait until m orning and clean th e
chim ney before kindling a Are. A fter
leaving th e house th e Are sta rte d and
b urned out th e accum ulation of soot.
Mr. L eslie ex p ressed g rea t a p p re c ia ­
tion of th e quick resp o n se of th e Are­
men and of th e c a re th ey used in
p u ttin g o u t th e Are.
