Alonzo B. Wood, for m any y ea rs a
resid en t of th e Pow ell V alley d istrict,
died on M onday, Feb. 9, a t E m anuel
hospital in P o rtlan d , w h ere he had
been ta k en for trea tm e n t. A su rg ical
o p eratio n w as attem p ted fo r his r e ­
lief but it w as found th a t he w as in
th e last stag es of can ce r and his death
w as a m a tte r of b ut a few hours. He
is survived by his widow. F u n eral
services w ere held at th e P earso n u n ­
d erta k in g p a rlo rs in P o rtla n d th is af- j
ternoon. w ith in te rm e n t in th e Rose
City cem etery. T he serv ice w as con­
ducted by h is p asto r, Dr. C. W. Huett
