P arso n s, living th re e m iles east of G resham , found it n ecessary to com e to G resham on S atu rd ay a fte r noon to get a fresh supply of coal oil for use in a h ea te r w ith w hich he was keeping th e tem p eratu re, of his ce lla r a t a safe sta g e for his v egetables and fru it. U nable to drive th ro u g h th e rap id ly d riftin g snow , he cam e on foot, d rag g in g a hand sled on w hich to tak e hom e his oil and o th e r p u r chases. It w asn ’t so bad com ing, but by the tim e he w as ready to s ta r t for hom e th e a ir was filled w ith snow w hich th e heavy wind w as w hipping into a fury. One could not see 50 feet ahead. F o rtu n a te ly for him, he found a frien d in L eslie St. C lair, who drove him safely to his door. It is im possi ble to say w h at th e re su lt m ight have been if Mr. P arso n s, who is in the la tte r six ties, had attem p ted to tak e his load on foot in the face of the gale.
