The law m akes it a crim inal offense to belong to a society th a t advocates the destruction of governm ent by vi olent and crim inal means. P arlor Bolshevists, who Join such a society because of th e ir devotion to principles of philosophical anarchy are not en titled to any sym pathy when they get Into trouble about it. If you Join In a society th a t has for Its avowed object the felonious p u r pose to burn my bouse and m urder my se rv an ts you cannot plead In de fense th a t you rem ained a t home when the deed was done. T here certain ly Is no agitation for the repeal of this law by law- abiding A merican citizens. T he m ere fact th a t it is keeping “big Bill H ayw ood” and others of his like in Russia, where they are dodging p en iten tiary sen tence for th e ir activity in th is count ry Is sufficient grounds for not re pealing it.
