T he origin of th e fire is unknow n but it was th o u g h t to have s ta rte d about 2 o'clock Mon day m orning. T he tire was first discovered by one of th e G underson boys who lives ’ n ea r th e mill w ith his parents. He saw a light and soon discovered th e mill to be in flam es. T he blaze lit up th e sky. Many neighbors upon seeing th e light rushed to th e scene. W ith th e ir help th e G undersons m anaged to save th e office and the office books an d m ost of th e lum ber out of th e m ill. T he y ard w ith lum ber piled in it did not catch on fire. T he fire had gotten such a headw ay in th e mill th a t all attem p ts to put o u t th e flam es w ere in vain. It burned to th e ground. The value of the mill was estim a t ed a t $20,000. T h ere w ere tw o boil ers in th e m ill and a q u an tity of m a chinery. J u s t how «nuch dam age was done to th e equipm ent is not known b u t it is th o u g h t to be badly b urned and w arped by th e intense h eat.
