T his indicates, officials say, th a t n e a r ly *1,000,000,000 a y ear is being spent for seats in movies and le g iti m ate th e ate rs. T he ex penditure Is slig h tly m ore th an th e governm ent will Bpend this y ear in in terest on th e n atio n al debt and ab o u t o ne-quar te r of th e to ta l estim ated revenues of th e governm ent for th e year. This im m ense sum is regarded by m any governm ent officials as much too larg e especially in view of th e economic depression and unem ploy m ent th ro u g h o u t th e country. T his Is Indicated in figures com piled for th e use of th e Pacific N orthw est F ru it Exposition, which is to be held In S eattle from N ovem ber 21 to 26. The rep o rt shows th a t w hile th e area of th e average farm in 1850 was 371.8 acres, as ag ain st 269.7 today, th e value of th e old farm was only *4,217, w hile to d ay ’s average Is *16,304.
