Cady was elected m ayor of the city of F airview at th e re g u la r m eeting of th e Fairview city council T uesday evening. Mr. Cady was elected to (ill th e vacaucy caused by th e resignation of L. A. B urlingam e who has moved to G resham . Ira Brooks was elected councilm an to ta k e Mr. Cady's place, and E. E. Hes- lin was elected p resid en t of the council. A com m ittee of four. W. D. Brooks, E. E. H eslln and J. Jo n as, w ith Dr. Jepson ch airm an , was appointed to m ake investigation concerning the in stallm en t of a w ater system . F rom all appearances C aptain W anzer died suddenly and w ith o u t a struggle. He had passed Sunday ev ening in F airview a t th e hom e of P aul O sburn and on his re tu rn to his home was ap p aren tly p rep arin g to re tire when he was strick en . He had been w inding his w atch, w hich fell upon his body and did n ot even slip to th e floor. C aptain W anzer was 75 years old. He was a railw ay en g in eer and serv ed for several years w ith th e O. W. R. & N. com pany. In an early day he was w ith the Union Pacific com pany in St. Paul. He leaves a son, Chas. W., of P o rtlan d , an a ssista n t engineer of th e sta te highw ay com m ission, and tw o d au g h ters, Mrs. A lexander Botkin of E stacad a and Mrs. C hester R. B radford of E vans ton, Illinois. F u n eral arran g em en ts have n ot been announced.
