Rates are too high, they all say; let them low er th e rates and we'll patro n ile them . And th ere is no doubt the rati- | roada a re losing a vast am ount of business on account of thia se n ti m ent. The lu re of th e nuto highw ay Is strong. Follow ing closely th e main tru n k railw ays across th e prairies and over the m ountain ranges Is seen th e au to highw ay, with a steady stream of m achines loaded w ith auto- tots and cam ping equipm ent. One is led to conclude th a t people a re not traveling by train ao much for th e p leasure of a trip but from neces sity, especially w here tim e m ust be saved. W hen th e tra v e le r desirea th e pleasures of an o u tin g and wishes to “see th e co u n try ," If m eans perm it, he takes his fam ily and goes by auto cam ping at the a u to parks along the way.
