Mount Rainier is 14,408 feet above the sea-level—the sec ond highest mountain peak in the United States. It is the cen ter of Rainier National Park, W ashington—and is situated about seventy-five miles by road east of'Tacoma. This remarkable mountain is of volcanic-origin and is now crowned with snow and ice, having the m ost extensive glaciers to be found in the United States. The National Parks High way leads directly fronj T a coma to Rainier National Park, and at Longmire Springs — within the Park boundaries— is a Standard Oil service sta tion ready to serve motorists with Red Crown Gasoline. G ooseberry grow ers are urged to spray as soon as th e fru it is off, H. P. Baras, of the Oregon E xperim ent Station, O. A. C. recom m ends the use of B ordeaux m ixture if anthracn o se has m ade its appearance. He says it Is much m ore satisfacto ry th an lim e su lp h u r and has a less tendency to burn at this tim e of year. T he gooseberry crop of m em bers of the Oregon G row ers C ooperative A ssociation has been taken care of by th e A ssociation. T he crop this year will ru n from 6,000 to 8,000 pounds an acre.
