OUTLAW * CORBETT MELROSE AND VICTORY A Melrose and Victory Red Cross auxiliary met last Thursday and turned out a good day's sewing. Seven hospital shirts were completed and eight more well ou the way. There was a better attendance than hBual. It should be increased yet, as this work is so badly needed. There .is also on hand some sewing to be done for the French and Belgian ch il dren that can be taken into the the homes and finished. Perhaps there are some who do not com e to the sewing room who could do some of this work. If so, uotify the chair man, Mrs. G. W. Allder, and she wilt be glad to send you som e of it. Mrs. Wilbur and Mrs. Thurston of Port land were at the meeting on Thurs day and gave a talk on the war sav ing stamps. They also organized a club of thirteen ladies, known as the Melrose and Victory War Saving Stamp club, with Mrs. G. W. Allder president and Miss Jennie Strebin secretary. If any one wishes to join, either notify the president or secre tary and they will he glad to get cards for you and give you any inform a tion possible^ The names of the members follow: Mrs G. All the fish ermen are working early and late repairing launches, engines, nets, etc., to make ready for the spring season of fishing, which begins May 1st and closes August 25th. Mr and Mrs. Dean Hinson, Mr. and Mrs Lewis Brattey, Mrs. Albert Fox and daughter Frances, all of Port land, spent Sunday with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Reed. Mrs. Zoe McCleverty, of Portland, was a recent visitor at Ferndale Place. Ralph Kincaid has been notified by the Multnomah county draft board, to be ready to go into train ing at one of the cantonm ents before May 1st. Thus another noble young man is called to the colors. Ralph has numerous friends in this vicinity.
