She is an old school friend of Miss Tollefson and they both greatly enjoyed the renewal of old ties Mrs. Flansberg left Wed nesday for her home in Chicago. We hear with sorrow that Lloyd Ough has had a serious accident. W hile riding Sunday his horse fell on him and crushed him. We are glad to welcome a new student. Miss Bessie Low entered Monday. She is a sophomore. The Columbian Debating society was organized last Thursday with a membership of nine. Fred Smith was elected president. The office ot secretary-treasurer is filled by Miss Esther Kincaid. The society is to hold a m eeting the second and fourth Thursday evenings of every month in the schoolhouse. The members are very mucn Interested and have a clever program planned for their first meeting The bazaar given by the Hanuei sewing society Tuesday evening in the schoolhouse was a great success. Every one had a very enjoyable time, and we hear it was a great fi nancial success. Overland Dealers. Service Car and a Full Line of Accessories Ben Smith is making some repairs on the place owned by Mr. Zeek, the old Anspaugh place, m aking it ready for new renters, wuo are expected soon. The present renters are plan ning to leave. An interesting meeting was held at the home of Mrs Chas. II. Baird yesterday, when the members of the com m ittee planning for the baby booth at the Fairview bazaar, met to work on articles for that sale. The work is for the Women'« society of Fairview, which will hold its annual bazaar on November 2 4 Ernest Wahl is planning to move soon to the Martin Lennartz place at Pleasant Home A L. Harvey has ordered a new Ford from Latourell's at Gresham. The shipm ent has been delayed but Mr Harvey is expecting it soon. MELROSE The young folks attempted to give Edgar W ilson and his bride an old fashioned charivari, but did not find them at home. W hile in Toledo they will be shown through the Overland factory, which is the largest autom obile fac tory in the world. It covers 103 acres, or an area equal to twenty eight city blocks. The dealers will also be shown all of the 1917 Overland and Willys- Knight Models, and will see the new models put through the various tests, which they are required to un dergo before leaving the factory. Banquets will hs given in honor of the visiting dealers, and the plans and policies of the company will he explained in detail by President John N. PLEASANT HOME Mrs. Willard Cook has returned from Oak Point, where she went sev eral weeks ago She has come to Rockwood with her little boy in or der to give him medical treatment. It will be remembered the little boy received a severe bump on Ills head som e tim e ago, when he was thrown to the pavement in trying to alight from a moving automobile. He had apparently recovered from the acci dent, but a slight bump on the head a few days ago produced severe pains and fever and It became necessary to get medical attention for him. Tbe child is under the care of Dr. Bittner of Gresham. A recent transaction of Interest to the people ot this vicinity was the change of ownership ot the Rich mond Btoro at Rockwood. The store, with several acres of land were trade for property at Albany, where the Richmond family has gone. Geo. Seely, the new owned of the store, is conducting the mercantile busiuess here.
