Since the people of the county voted a million and a q u a rte r dollars to hard surface mote than seventy miles of county roads the p ro p erly ow ners of tins eity have seen the ad v an tag e of b etter stree ts and there is really little opposition to having the w ork done. it is a noted fact th at nearly every tow n m Oregon and W ash ington of tile size of this one has go. d h ard paved streets. They could he nam ed by the score. All the la rg e r tow ns are m aking vast a tn d e s in this respect an d many ol liie sm alier ones not hall me size ol Gresham have th eir p rincipal th o ro u g h fares h ard s u r faced, and some of them have b etter loads leading into them than are to he found at p resen t in eastern .Multnomah. To he specilie, there are such towns as N ew berg, L afayette, and Dallas, only a size larg e r than G i.sh am , th at have th eir street system s in p e rle c t shape with the sti ts paved from curb to curl».
