A recom m endation m ade by th e county budget com m ittee, pub­
lished In this m o rn in g s O regonian conveys the in telligence th a t
Koadm aster Jo h n B. Yeon is sla te d for rem oval as county road-
m aster, but th a t he will be allow ed to com plete th e Colum bia River
Highway. Mr. Yeon will not be sw itched aro u n d a t the will of a few
designing persons who may have favorites for a good job, an d if
he is in terferred w ith will q u it th e whole road building schem e at
once. The Bensons, who have been backing him, will also w ith-
iraw th eir influence. Mr. Yeon has served a year w ithout pay and
is willing to continue u n til th e work is com pleted. T he follow ing
expression from th e presid en t of th e G resham Com m ercial club, re­
flects the position of p ractically every tax p ay er in E astern M ultno­
mah
