In the sturdy Percheron horses pictured above may be seen the qualities which are estab lishing their popularity with the fanner. Massive but not awkward strength is shown in every line. These horses, while costing much more than those of common breed, often prove an econ omy. When there is heavy work to be done, a Percheron horse is nearly as efficient as two ordinary beasts, while his upkeep is not much more than the cost of one. In the illustration the animals are grouped to show the rem arkable development in m uscular power which gives these animals their value.
