GRESHAM HIGH
LOSES GAME
When the Gresham High school
girls' basket ball team met the girls
from Stevenson last Saturday even
ing It was freely predicted that the
latter would be victorious by a score
of Buch proportions that the Gresham
girls would never recover from the
, , defeat. But It was not quite so bad
J. as foretold. The score was four to
three in favor of Stevenson, yet the
Gresham girls came away proud of
the defeat for they were pitted
against one of the hardest-to-beat
team s in the northw est.
A team that had walloped Hood
River by a score of 34 to nothing was
som ething for the Gresham girls to
tackle, but they were gam e to the
finish aud nearly succeeded In being
victorious. One wild toss of the ball
at a critical moment brought defeat,
and another chauce to score from the
field was destroyed by an unw arrant
ed foul by the visitors.
The home girls sold enough tick
ets at 16 cents apiece to pay the ex
penses of the Stevenson crowd with
a few dollars over.
The Gresham players were Evelyn
